Growing up, my father owned a record co-op with some of his buddies. because of this, I grew up around a small business mindset and saw first hand the difficulties of owning

one. The hardest part for him was being able to continue to have the best inventory for his customers. The internet wasn’t as sophisticated as it is today, so he simply had to post

ads in the local newspaper and hope he could connect with someone who could sell him new records and merchandise.

fast forward to today, as a owner of a small leatherworks brand, i was spending so much time searching for local shops to sell my products to. it took much longer than expected since most small businesses don’t have a huge ranking in google search. i was having the

same difficulties my dad had 15+ years ago. as a result, i gave up on the search and started crafted & curated. It is a tool that will help small time designers like myself easily find and connect with local shops who are looking for new brands/products for

their brick and mortar stores.

along with brands, it will also empower shop owners themselves to network with people like me. They will be able to see photos of my products on my crafted & curated profile. if

they like my products and my brand, they will be able to see where we are located, and most importantly, they will have the ability to message me directly via the site instead

of communicating through missed emails and days of phone tag.

the internet has grown to be a powerful resource and it’s time it becomes a resource for small businesses across america.

the website has been built with the expectation of future add-ons. I have kept the site clean, simple, and to the point. i will be building, from the ground up, pages and tools that members want and need. this will include an online shop, interviews,

and helpful articles written by successful small businesses.

once membership grows, these ideas will be launched. members are urged to contact us with any ideas they would like to see

implemented into the site.

Since crafted & Curated was created to strengthen small businesses and communities, we will be adding a section of the site that will be dedicated to highlighting local charities,

pet shelters, organizations, and programs.

stockist - a retail or online shop owner who is in the business of stocking other brand’s merchandise and selling

it to a specific type of customer

maker - a brand owner or crafter who creates and produces their own specially designed merchandise

to help the site grow and get the word out, i will be spending time creating social network profiles. I have seen the important of being available to answer questions and

speak to the intentions of the site.

i plan on using targeted advertising with facebook and also reaching out to popular blogs and websites.

THE COST OF THE SITE WAS A COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS THAT I TOOK OUT OF SAVINGS. AS A 21 YEAR OLD, I AM NOT ELIGIBLE FOR LARGE LOANS. WITH YOUR HELP, CRAFTED & CURATED CAN GROW

INTO A TRULY AMAZING NETWORK AND TOOL.

the site has yet to be properly marketed and branded. since there are so many ideas that i hope to add onto the site, i will need to hire a web designer for future site re-design

and structure changes.

estimated costs:$8,000-10,000.

MY GOAL WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR IS TO CREATE A STREAMLINED, USER FRIENDLY MOBILE APPLICATION. THIS, HOWEVER, COSTS

THOUSANDS OF MORE DOLLARS THAN I CAN COVER BY MYSELF. WITH THE ADDITION OF A MOBILE APP., i WILL BE ABLE TO ADD EVEN MORE

TOOLS THAT WON’T NECESSARILY BE AS USEFUL ON A DESKTOP

THEME. AN EXAMPLE OF THIS INCLUDES A ‘FIND A BUSINESS’ OPTION

THAT CAN HELP FIND A local, small business SHOP NEAR YOU. simply by going into the app and entering your location.

estimated cost for mobile application creation: $5,000-7,000.
