THE NOTEBOOK

This film poster presents one of the key scenes within the film; the point where the two main protagonistsrealize that they can break the boundaries that onceprevented their love and finally achieve their fairytale ending. The use of rain in this photo connotes strong emotion and the colours from the photo fit perfectly with the convention of a plain background. Moreover the text is written in a style that almost resembles a type writer, supporting the title ‘The Notebook’. The photo is central to the poster and captures their highly romantic pose clearly demonstrating the genre.

PS I LOVE YOU

Once again the photo is central to the poster and captures their cute and romantic pose, demonstrating the romantic genre. However the female is more prominent then the male, demonstrating that her role is more significant and that the storyline focuses more on her and her loss of love then a romantic coming together. The use of red connotes passion and love which supports the ‘P.s. I love you’ text. Moreover, the text is written in a font that represents handwriting, displaying another key element of the film; the notes her deceased husband sends beyond the grave.

PRETTY WOMAN

This film poster presents one of the key aspects of the film; the hold the female protagonist has other the male. The way he seems almost forced to be close to her through her pulling his tie also illustrates his reluctance to fall in love. The use of pink connotes passion, love and femininity which supports the text ‘Pretty Woman’.This poster also contains a plain background which seems to be a common feature of romantic posters, making the photo of the couple the main attraction for the audience and presenting the genre more efficiently.
