WHAT ELSE DO I NEED?

• Stores have lists of all the items needed for each grade, for each school

• Make a list of all the stuff you will need for the new school year and start shopping

• WARNING : Not everything needed is on the list.

• When you go to school here are some other things to carry with you.

PUT IN YOUR BACKPACK - - - HONESTY

• Romans 12:17 (KJV) – Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

• 2 Corinthians 13:7 Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable (honest – KJV), though we may seem disqualified.

• Be honest with yourself – Admit mistakes, “I did it”– You know what you did – good or bad

• Be honest with friends– Quickest way to lose a friend – lie to them– We need someone to be honest – and love us

• Be honest with teachers– Honesty is still the best policy

• Be honest with parents and family– They will find out eventually– Lying only makes things worse

• Cheating is a major problem– There is pressure for good grades– Need high grades to get scholarships– Many are not willing to study, work, learn– Today – cell phones are used to cheat– Instead of writing papers – get one on line– Watch a movie instead of reading the book– Hack the school records and change a grade

• We resent anyone telling us what to do• Authority figures – Principle, Teachers,

Parents, Police• Does not end when you are out of school –

Boss, Supervisor, Chairman of the board, Government (all levels)

• Who are they to tell me what to do?– Dress codes, no cell phone, register car– No weapons, be on time, too many times absent

• We must obey those in authority• Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the

governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God

• Challenges will come– “Nobody will find out.”– “Are you afraid to try it?”– “It is fun, exciting. It will give you new high.”

• Do you have the courage to say, “NO!”?– Peer pressure gets in the way– Wanting to be accepted is an issue

• Your Faith will be challenged– Church attendance– God, Jesus, Bible– Youth activities at church vs. Worldly activity

• Is your faith strong enough to overcome the scoffing and ridicule, and stand up for truth?

• Know right and wrong– We must decide – stick with our decision– Decide before you face the challenge

• Be prepared to accept the consequences of our actions

• We can be the example to give others the courage to follow us
