Job 6:9-119 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

Satan’s two sided attack on God

1. Job loves God because he is blessed2. God buys Job’s devotion by blessing him

Page 19: For Teenagers: When Things Go Wrong - Worship

Luke 10:17-2017 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Expressing your sorrow

Vs 20 “At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head…”• Job was expressing intense sadness (he loved his

children)

• Expressing grief over the death of a loved one or being upset over the loss of possessions doesn’t mean we have no faith in God

• Do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope(1 Thess 4: 13,14)

Page 27: For Teenagers: When Things Go Wrong - Worship

Worship GodVs 20 “THEN, he fell to the ground in worship” • vs 21 Confessing that everything belongs to the

Lord (The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away).

• Vs 21 Praising God (may the name of the Lord be praised)

Page 28: For Teenagers: When Things Go Wrong - Worship

Sacrifice of Praise• Ps 116: 17 sacrifice a thanks offering to you

• Heb 13: 15 Continually offer to God a sacrifice of Praise

• What is Sacrifice?=  something you give up, usually for the sake of a better cause ??

= an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God ?

Page 29: For Teenagers: When Things Go Wrong - Worship

Why Sacrifice of Praise ?• Because He is God

• Because He is awesome and deserves to be worshipped by us

• Because He gave us life and He loves us

• Because we are made to worship Him

• Because it’s not just about us and our problems!
