FREEDOM FROM

COMPULSIVE

SLAVERYby

Shri Prashant

Page 2: Freedom from compulsive slavery

What is COMPULSION ???

When the mind is disinterested in doing something or when any external influence is forced upon one self then, it is called as

COMPULSION.

Superficially, interest determines whether an activity is compulsion or not.

Where does interests comes from ??

Your interests are also a result of external influences which you gather

from outside.

Page 4: Freedom from compulsive slavery

ASK YOURSELF…

Would your interests have been the same if you were born and brought up in a

different country, in a different society, in a different age, in a different gender etc.?

For example – If you were born in Brazil

then you must have been interested in

watching football instead of cricket.

Page 5: Freedom from compulsive slavery

THAT MEANS…

You weren’t always interested in something. The time and the entire

moment of life gave it to you.

That is why your interests are external influences which comes to you through your

mind.

Now when both compulsion and interest are external influences then

how intelligent is it of us to call some external influences as interests and

other as compulsion ??

When an external influence is taking place it not

only gives u a compulsion or an interest, it actually

tells you what to like and what to dislike.

This entire process is called CONDITIONING.

Excerpts from the article:Freedom from compulsive slavery

Page 7: Freedom from compulsive slavery

For example- The ones who are vegetarian

surely do not like to have non-vegetarian

food because they have been conditioned

from the beginning that the vegetarian food

is better than non vegetarian food.

But do they really dislike it ??

You can only dislike something when you understand the whole thing with a great

deal of intelligence.

If it turns out that both my interests and disinterests are

external influences then is there any reason to rejoice fulfilling your

interest ??

There are two ways to enslave a man: make him do something forcefully, and condition him.

When you condition somebody to do

something then it became his/her interest.

It would create a set of beliefs in his mind

towards the thing that is conditioned and

he/she will willfully start doing it.

Doesn’t interests have some internal influence which comes from the mind ?

To know this, we should first know what the mind is ?

Brain

Intelligence

Mind

BRAIN ???

The action of brain is ‘thoughts’ which

means all your interests and

disinterests are also thoughts as a part

of your programming, conditioning

and past experiences.

Excerpts from the article:Freedom from compulsive slavery

Page 13: Freedom from compulsive slavery

INTELLIGENCE ???

Intelligence is the ability to respond to anentirely new situations and challenges ofwhich you have no experience in the past. Therefore the capacity to act independent ofthe past is called intelligence.

The best of computer cannot respond to an

input it has not been programmed but an

intelligent human being, an intelligent mind can

respond to an entirely new situation.

Page 14: Freedom from compulsive slavery

SO HOW DO WE KEEP OUR MIND IN INTELLIGENCE ???

To be completely awake, wakeful , aware and attentive towards the situations and act accordingly independent of the past is

an indication of an intelligent mind.

Page 15: Freedom from compulsive slavery

WHY DOES MY MIND KEEP ON FLUCTUATING ?

Your brain is the result of your past and every passing moment is becoming the past.

The brain lives in time and the time is continuously changing so as the thoughts.

www.advait.org.in www.prashantadvait.com

Excerpts from the article:Freedom from compulsive slavery

Page 16: Freedom from compulsive slavery

The entire content of your brain such asyour desires, beliefs, targets, emotions, concepts, expectations, identities comeseither from the external influence or theconditioning of the brain

And an intelligent man can see that allthis is “slavery”.

Page 17: Freedom from compulsive slavery

Therefore , a free man is the one who acts out of his intelligence and not out of the external influences.

To be free one has to deeply aware of the causes of slavery.

In this deep awareness, in this deep attention lies the way to freedom.
