Leh is linked by a complex network of mountain trails to most of the valleys, villages and high pastures.

One airport in Leh, its capital.

Ladakhis live scattered throughout the Himalayan mountain ranges.

1. Mostly small-scale farmers.

2. Work on short growing seasons of a few months every year.

3. Land irrigated by water from the ice and snow of the mountains.

They also rear yak, dzos (yak-cow cross breed), cows, sheep and goats.

What do they sustain on?

Let’s look at

education there.

Consider sending their children to school? Who will help them on their farms?
