Self Image

• Genesis 1:26-27

• Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

I Look Like God?

• Don’t be flattered, most of the time in the Bible are afraid to see God’s face, or drop dead when they do! Ouch!

• No seriously though, he has elevated us to be like him with the authority to get things done.

• You have a relationship with the Living God!

Page 6: Self Respect

From Rags to Riches• You need to accept the fact that God did not

make you in the image of an animal.

• Don’t settle for merely living out your fleshly desires, scrounging for food, etc.

• He has made you in the image of himself!

• You are not peasants, but royalty!

• You have the capacity to have a relationship with the divine. Put on your robe!

Romans 8:35-39• Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God’s Love for Us

• God loves us. Plain and simple.

• There is nothing we can do that can stop Him from loving us.

• He is jealous for us.

• We can't run from this kind of love.

Self Love

• You need to come to terms with that and realize that you are the object of God’s affection.

• See this book? The Bible?

• It’s a love letter written to you!

• To accept God’s love you need to be willing to love yourself, to forgive yourself and to open yourself up to that forgiveness.

Too muchof a good thing...

• Too much self esteem is bad.

Page 12: Self Respect

John 15:1-8

• I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

• This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

• Spread that fruit around!
