ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭ੍ਾਉ ਗਮਟਾਇ ॥੨॥ Doubt is eradicated, O Nanak, in the Sadh

Sangat, and the love of duality is eliminated.

ਗਿਵ ਧਾਤ ੁਦੁਇ ਰਾਹ ਹੈ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਹ ਕਾਿੁ ਅਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤਾ ॥੩॥

ਏਕੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਹਗਹ ਗਨਤ ਕਰਗਹ ਬੁਗਰਆਈਆ ॥

In the one temple of the body are the five

thieves, who continually misbehave. 1096

ਪੰਚ ਗਬਕਾਰ ਮਨ ਮਗਹ ਬਸੇ ਰਾਚੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ॥ The five evil passions dwell in the mind of

one who is engrossed in Maya. 297

ਕਗਿ ਕਿਵਾਿੀ ਕਾਮੁ ਮਦੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੀਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ The Dark Age of Kali Yuga is the vessel, filled with the wine of

sexual desire; the mind is the drunkard.

ਕਰੋਧ ਕਟੋਰੀ ਮੋਗਹ ਭ੍ਰੀ ਪੀਿਾਵਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ Anger is the cup, filled with emotional attachment, and egotism

is the server.

ਮਜਿਸ ਕੂੜੇ ਿਬ ਕੀ ਪੀ ਪੀ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ Drinking too much in the company of falsehood and greed, one

is ruined. 553

ਮਿ ਿਥੇ ਿੈਦੇ ਫੇਰੀਆ ॥ The wrestlers enter the arena and circle

around.

ਗਨਹਤੇ ਪੰਗਜ ਜੁਆਨ ਮੈ ਿੁਰ ਥਾਪੀ ਗਦਤੀ ਕੰਗਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੮॥ I have thrown the five challengers to the

ground, and the Guru has patted me on the

back. ||18|| 74

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਓਇ ਦੁਸਟ ਵਗਸ ਹੋਤੇ ॥੩॥ Only through the Saadh Sangat, the

Company of the Holy, can those villains be

brought under control. ||3||

ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧ ਬੁਗਰਆਈਆਂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਤੁਟੁ ॥ Sexual desire, anger and other evils have

been subdued in the Saadh Sangat, the

Company of the Holy.

ਗਮਗਿ ਸੰਿਗਤ ਸਾਧੂ ਉਬਰੇ ਿੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੬॥ Joining the Sangat Sadhu, and working on

the Gur-ka-Shabad , you shall be saved. ||6||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭ੍ਇਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਗਤ ॥ Through the Saadh Sangat, the Company of

the Holy, you obtained this human life.

ਕਗਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਭ੍ਜੁ ਹਗਰ ਹਗਰ ਿੁਰਮਗਤ ॥ Do seva - selfless service; follow Gurmat,

and vibrate the Lord's Name, Har, Har. 176

If you want to know God you must enter the

proper sangath.

You keep the company of thieves when you

don’t Jap.

ਤੇ ਤਸਕਰ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਿੇਵਗਹ ਵਾਸਗਹ ਕੋਟ ਪੰਚਾਸਾ ॥੨॥ One who does not chant the Naam is a thief,

dwelling in the fortress of the five thieves.

ਸਿਿ ਗਸਰਸਗਟ ਕੇ ਪੰਚ ਗਸਕਦਾਰ ॥ The five demons are the rulers of the whole

world,

ਰਾਮ ਭ੍ਿਤ ਕੇ ਪਾਨੀਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ but they are just water-carriers for the Lord's

devotee. ||1||Pause|| 865
