• “Authorized” is an interesting word.

– It means given or endowed with authority; duly

sanctioned.

The Anointing: What it is

• The Anointing carries with it the power of the source. – You carry all of the power, force, and authority of the one

anointing you.

• If your anointing was by the hand of Man, …– Then you have all of the authority they can or will give you

– If those anointing you are powerless – unable to back up what they have bestowed – then the anointing is powerless.

• If your anointing was by the Holy One of Israel, … – Then your anointing is backed by a pretty good source.

– And nothing … no thing … can remove it.

The Anointing: What it is

• In the days before Samuel, there were judges in Israel and YHWH God was Lord over Israel.

• But in the days of Samuel, the people of Israel cried out for a king like all the other nations. After reasoning with the people of Israel God relented and anointed them a leader, a king like the other nations around them.

• God commanded Samuel to anoint Saul then David as kings of Israel.

• Zadok, as the priest of God, anointed Solomon king of Israel after David.

– And He (Jesus) closed the book (scroll), and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him (Jesus). And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing (ears).”

The Anointing: What it is not

It is important to know what the 'anointing' is not as it is to know what the anointing is. Anointing authorizes to do. It ordains, separates or appoints to the task. It is not the task or power behind the task.

• The “Anointing” is not the thing for which you were “anointed.”

• The “Anointing” is not the power or authority for which you were “anointed.”

• The “Anointing” is not a thing to be desired to have in vain.

• The “Anointing” is not a thing lightly given or given away.

• The “Anointing” is not a thing to be coveted.

(For more clarity, substitute ’anointing’ with commissioning, sanctioning, or authorizing in each of the bullets.)

The Anointing: What it will do

• The anointing teaches you

• 1 John 2: 20, 27

– You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

– The anointing which you received from Him (the Holy Spirit) abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it (His anointing) has taught you, abide in Him.

• Acts 13:2,3

The Anointing of Power and Fire

mightier than I, and I am not fit to unite the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

– (Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; John 1:33)

• John 20:21,22– Jesus therefore said to them, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I

also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

• Acts 1:5– (Jesus saying) “… for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with

the Holy Spirit…)

• Acts 2:2-4– And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it

filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.

• Power to witness:– Acts 1:8 “… you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and

you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
