YOU ARE HERE

Map: Some have internal maps and don't need anyone to help

but most of us don't.

If you don't know where you are you won't know how to get to where you want to or need

to go!

LORD, I NEED TO LOCATE MYSELF

In You

In Your Plans for my life

In Your Plans for My Business

In your plans for my family

In your plans for this nation

In your plans for this church

Page 6: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

THIS NATION HAS TO ALSO LOCATE ITSELF IN THE PLANS OF GOD AND THE

COMPANY OF NATIONS

We have false images of our ourselves

Locate ourselves in history. I can't be caught in the wrong

place The report about us are greatly exaggerated

rated President Jonathan but exactly how This nation has to also locate itself in the plans of God and the company of nations

Page 7: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

THE CHURCH NEEDS TO LOCATE ITSELF

Why am I here

What s lacking or missing

Locate yourself relative to where I need to go

To understand where I need to go

Page 8: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

THE CHURCH NEEDS TO LOCATE ITSELF

Where am I and who am I

That's the first thing

Not where am I going or what do I need to invest

in

JACOB DID THATGenesis 32:22-23 (NKJV)

Wrestling with God

22 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven

sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok. 23 He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent

over what he had.

Page 10: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

JACOB DID THATGenesis 32:24-32 (NKJV)

Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket

of his hip; and the socket of Jacob's hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go

unless You bless me!”

Page 11: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

JACOB DID THATGenesis 32:24-32 (NKJV)

27 So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” 28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God

and with men, and have prevailed.” 29 Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said,

“Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.

JACOB DID THATGenesis 32:24-32 (NKJV)

30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” 31 Just as he crossed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the

children of Israel do not eat the muscle that shrank, which is on the hip socket, because He touched the

socket of Jacob's hip in the muscle that shrank.

FATHER HELP ME TO LOCATE MYSELF

We don't like being alone so we complain, I am alone even

our lord Jesus was alone If you don't make time to be alone God would create

circumstances to be alone

It's the time to hear yourself think

Page 14: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

WHAT IS YOUR NAME

In other words I cannot bless you until you know

who what and where you are

You can't overcome what you don't confront

Page 15: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

WHAT IS YOUR NAME

You can’t conquer what you don’t confront and you can’t confront what

you don’t identify.

It's not the answer but the right question

Page 16: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

THE PROCESS

First you need to know where we are.

Next we need to know where we are going

After that we need to know who we need to be to get there!

Page 17: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

THE PROCESS

Same for the church Same for the nation

Same for the individual Same for business

Page 18: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

THE PROCESS

WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS NOT HUMAN

DOERS WHO DO I NEED TO BE

TO GET THERE

Page 19: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

CHANGES ADJUSTMENTS DISCIPLINES I NEED TO MAKE TO GET THERE

Jacob got there limping, what brought him there could not get him there

We don't want anyone to know where we are, (for instance single parents in church so missed

out on the help)

Page 20: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

LORD I DON'T MIND IF I LIMP FROM HERE ON

Help me to humble myself rather than humble me

because if God humbles you HE will embarrass you.

Locating your self is not rehashing your past its locating

where you are relative to where you should be.

Page 21: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

OTHER EXAMPLES OF THE NEED TO CHANGE BEFORE WE GET THERE

Elisha what brought you here won't take you tree

The first time he wanted to go home and hug his parents second time he

didn't move or give Elijah a moment

ELISHA FOLLOWS ELIJAH1 Kings 19:19-21 (NKJV)

19 So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen

before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah, and said, “Please let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will

follow you.”

ELISHA FOLLOWS ELIJAH1 Kings 19:19-21 (NKJV)

And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21 So Elisha turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen's equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed

Elijah, and became his servant.

ELIJAH ASCENDS TO HEAVEN2 Kings 2:1-15 (NKJV)

1 And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah

went with Elisha from Gilgal. 2 Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to

Bethel.” But Elisha said, “ As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So

they went down to Bethel.

CUT OF SIN BY SHOWING MERCY

Daniel 4:27 (NKJV)

Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your

prosperity.

CUT OF SIN BY SHOWING MERCY

Daniel 4:27 (KJV)

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by

righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of

thy tranquillity

FROM BELIEVE TO KNOW WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject

you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God,I also will forget your

children.

Page 28: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

FROM BELIEVE TO KNOW WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

This is not just knowledge about God but Knowledge

of how God works

Instead of God Obsession

Page 32: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

ASK YOURSELF:

When are you under time pressure?

Or in a hurry?

Or doing something that you have been told is important?

Or have people depending upon you?

Page 33: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

“WHAT AM I DOING?” AND, “WHY AM I DOING THIS?”

Ask yourself, “Am I achieving a task—and forgetting my organization’s

mission?”

Are you making money to support your family—and forgetting the

family that you are trying to support?

Page 34: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

“WHAT AM I DOING?” AND, “WHY AM I DOING THIS?”

Are you on time to deliver a sermon to your staff—and forgetting to practice what

you’re preaching?

After all this effort and display of professional prowess, you don’t want to find yourself at a dead end, asking, “What have

I done?”

The 3 Laws of Balance

Andy starts off by drawing parallels between physical balance and financial balance. He states that the 3 laws are:

1. Have a reference point

2. Make constant corrections

3. And have a clear objective

Page 37: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

Breaking These Laws

One important point that Andy makes is that if you break any of these laws while physically trying to

balance, you’ll experience immediate consequences, but in

finances the consequences can be

avoided for years.

STOP AND EVALUATE OUR LIVES

Why we are struggling to get to the top of the

ladder and discover that its leaning on the wrong

wall Rush to marry an unbeliever leads to the

devil as your father in law God is your father the devil is the spouses father

SHORT TERM DECISIONS THAT HAVE LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES

Help me to think ahead

THE GREAT WESTERN DISEASE LIES IN THE PHRASE,

I will be happy when . . . As in, I will be happy when I get that promotion, or I will be happy when I buy

that house, or I will be happy when I get that money.

The wise old you has finally realized that the next promotion, the next achievement, the next move to

a larger house or a more attractive corner office won’t really change your world that much.
