He is one of the greatest Portuguese football players. He is the first great footballer from Africa.

Eusebio da Silva Ferreira was born on 25 of January 1942 in Mafalal. His father was a railway station-worker. His mother was a housewife.

The Early Years

When Eusebio was 11 he created a team «Os Brasileiros». After the World Cup-1958 Eusebio was called Pele. Then Eusebio was in a farm-club «Sporting».

«Sport Lisboa e Benfica» Eusebio moved to Portugal in

summer 1961. At 19 years he began to play for the national team. «Benfica» became one of the leading European football teams. After the World Cup-1966 Eusebio’s career was not so brilliant.

After his playing career He worked as a

coach in a junior teams of «Benfica». Then he was a representative of «Benfica» in different events. After finishing his playing career Eusebio has not lost his popularity. Now he is engaged in social activities in a football area.
