Making a Difference for Liberia’s Youth
Liberia was founded in 1822 by freed American slaves. It was one of the most prosperous African countries until two recent civil wars wiped out an entire generation. 250,000 people were killed, over one million fled, and warlords conscripted children to fight for them. A child solider from the

Liberia in Crisis 1980-2003
The DonamiSport Foundation has partnered with the Liberia YMCA, the Office of the President, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Liberia Football Association to provide a positive soccer experience for the children and help re-knit the social
fabric of the country.
Effects of Liberian Civil Wars
Over 1 million, mostly educated middle class, fled the nation and
only 15% returned
230,000 children are orphans
45% of citizens are under the age of 15
DonamiSport’s four key objectives:
1. To establish community-based soccer programs for children ages 4-15
2. To teach character development through the soccer programs (sportsmanship, fair play, volunteerism, peaceful conflict resolution)
3.To provide affordable soccer leagues for all participants
4. To create heroes and ambassadors that exemplify athleticism, character, social and problem solving skills
DonamiSport redirects children to school, promotes HIV awareness, encourages community service, and creates safe spaces and healthy outlets to direct idle youth energy.
These grassroots programs will create youth advocates that will champion a new drive for
progress, inspire patriotism, strive for excellence, and ignite hope for the future.

Providing a Stage
In order to provide a platform to position these heroes and ambassadors, DonamiSport has partnered with the internationally renowned Dallas Cup Youth Soccer Tournament’s Dallas Is Diversity Programs.

Creating a Legacy
Archbishop Desmond Tutu with Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, Judy Murphey of Dallas Cup and other Dallas dignitaries.
“Sport is a very important means to build bridges between our communities and to teach positive values to our youth. We commend the City of Dallas and the many sponsors involved for their foresight and generosity.”
– Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
Compassionate corporate support allowed these beacons of hope to experience cultural cooperation and become domestic peace ambassadors.
Liberian YMCA Youth Dream Team
For 2014, with support from Liberia’s President and Nobel Laureate, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, DonamiSport is teaming up with Dallas Cup to help pave the way for
influential and sustainable change in Liberia.
You Can HelpDonamiSport is helping rebuild the psychological spirit of the nation’s youth by supporting the first youth soccer team from Liberia to travel outside the country after the civil war.
The idea of bringing an economically disadvantaged youth soccer team from one of the poorest countries in the world to one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world is a miracle in itself. With your financial donation, you can help us make it happen.
You Can Make This Miracle Happen
Many have already contributed to ensure that the Liberian Dream Team will be cared for while in Dallas.
But the team still lacks the funds for airfare for the players and coaches. We need your help to complete this Dream Team’s miracle so these players can inspire hope for their peers back home.
