DESCRIPTION
The Junior Philanthropists of the Virgin Islands are a student-run organization, established three years ago, to promote youth educational programs. Members range in age from 9-16 and pay their age in membership dues. Their biggest annual fundraiser is the Youth4Youth Tennis Tournament.

Who are the Junior Philanthropists?• A non-profit organization working under the auspices of the Community
Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI)• Founded in 2011• Junior Philanthropist Members:
• Students aged 9 to 17 years • “Pay their age” in membership dues• Committed to volunteer efforts and raising funds through fun community events• Identify recipient children/youth based programs, primarily in the USVI, with an
emphasis on education • Donate funds raised annually to youth based programs• Raised almost $30K to date• Learned about philanthropy - organizing , initiative, and taking responsibility• Are the future of philanthropy

Grant Recipient DescriptionFriends of the VI National Parks- VIERS To send 10 students to VIERS summer camp
Pistarckle Theater Partial payment for 4 students to go to Summer Musical Camp and partial payment for 2 students to attend Leadership Camp
Family Connection CFVI- Readers Theater To organize a reading program to be held on 6 Saturdays over the summer at Tutu Park Mall to promote reading for youth
My Brother’s Workshop To support ongoing programming for at risk youth
St. Thomas Racquet Club To help advance a junior tennis program by buying equipment, assisting with tennis scholarships, and reaching out to public schools to promote healthy exercise.
Community Foundation CFVI- Next Generation College Program
To expose 2 strong high school students to academic opportunities by attending a college tour.
Sadhu Vaswani Mission To provide one scholarship at the Meera School for Girls in India.

• Age categories: 18, 16, 14, 12 years and under. Novice division (QuickStart) for 10 and 8 years and under
• VITA sanctioned • Prizes for winners and runners-up; T-shirts for entrants
• Community-wide participation
• Affiliated with the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands; First Lady Cecile de Jongh’s Tennis in the Parks and Schools (TIPS) initiative; VI Tennis Association; and the St. Thomas Yacht Club

Why sponsor?
• Community wide participation. The event last year attracted 70 players and over 100 additional spectators. Families from across all the Virgin Islands attended, representing a broad swath of diverse communities.
• Wide publicity. With the support of the Community Foundation, Public and private schools, St. Thomas Yacht Club, VI Tennis Association - there will be many avenues to publicize.
• Media campaign. TV, radio, newsprint and flyers opportunities
• Unique story. A chance to help students do good for youths in their community and foster a new generation of philanthropists.
• Philanthropy. All money raised goes towards community non-profit youth based programs helping the less fortunate, with an emphasis on education in the Virgin Islands.
• A marketing and/or sponsorship opportunity. Linking your name with a good cause by means of a fun, widely attended family event.
