The television set is an invention which displays different types of moving images. It consists of different channels with different types of programs. The television can be used for different purposes such as entertainment, or retaining information. The television is also a way to inform viewers about events occurring around the world by the news. This allows people around the world to have a better understanding of other countries, rather than being secluded to the area they live in. The television is a great way to communicate messages to a large area. For example the news is a great way to inform citizens about the events and tragedies that occur around them. The television also provides all different types of entertainment to suit the viewer’s taste. People are able to watch a wide variety of different programs from all types of genres.

The television has continually evolved from its’ original invention. The invention of the television first occurred in the late eighteen hundreds by a student in Germany named Paul Gottlieb Nipkow, who first figured out how to transfer images through wires that could appear on a screen. After that, new innovations of the television were continually being created until 1934 when the television had been created into the electronic system that is still being used to this day.

The television has greatly improved from it's original invention. The selection is larger then ever with big screen TVs, to flat screen TVs. Even the picture quality has been enhanced to high definition picture and blue ray pictures. The modern day experience of watching television has changed for the better over the years. You can experience theatre quality sound and picture in the comfort of your own living room. With surround sound systems ,the viewers are able to hear every detail of their program. In addition the television is still evolving to create new details to satisfy viewers.

The television has become such a big part of people’s lives that it would be hard to image a world without it. It is not seen as uncommon for each household in North America to own a television set. The reason television is so popular is because it has something to offer for everyone. The entertainment television offers allows people to use television as an escape from life. People turn to television as a form of relaxation from their days. A television is usually placed in a comfortable atmosphere in a household to promote that feeling of relaxation. The room in a house hold where the main television set is usually placed is called the “family room”. This shows that people are substituting the television as form of bonding with others in the household rather than communicating with one another. Television has imprinted the idea in people’s heads that a family sitting around watching a program together is spending quality time together, rather than having conversation with one another. As busy as people’s lives may be, they will usually at one point of the day have to turn on their television. It could be for a quick glance at the weather, or to watch their favourite T.V show. No matter what it is the television has become such an important factor in our everyday lives that people have learnt to rely on it to be there for their use.
