America that helps children

with full - or partial - hearing

impairments learn to read and

write through sign language,

3- A web platform to encourage

positive behavior in class

“ClassDojo” gives students a personalized avatar. Teachers

then give each avatar points for good behavior in class;

with the points displayed in real-time in the classroom.

7- Gamified language learning

Duolingo is an interactive language learning app.

Users take short lessons, and the higher they score,

the more lessons they unlock.

8- Mobile solar-powered

computer classrooms in Africa

Three solar panels,

foldable desks and

chairs, an Internet router,

low-wattage netbooks

and a robust tent are

carried on a 4X4 vehicle

so that classrooms can

be set up in remote

areas of Uganda.

9- Radiophones

to teach children basic literacy

This tech combines the local community-radio and

telephone-based systems to give marginalized children in

India basics of literacy, numeracy and hygiene.

To attract listeners, the content is based on the Indian

version of Sesame Street. 1.4 million benefited from this

free service to date.
