Gadjah Mada University (UGM),

in Yogyakarta, is one of

Indonesia’s top universities.

ACICIS students study either

intensive language classes or

regular units from any faculty in

the university, or a mix of both.

All classes are in Indonesian.

Muhammadiyah University is a

private Islamic university in Malang,

East Java,

ACICIS students usually undertake

personal field research on a topic of

their own choice.

Many do this as preparation for an

honours thesis.

All classes are in Indonesian.

Indonesian Arts at ISI

Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) in

Yogyakarta, is one of Indonesia's

premier institutions for the visual and

performing arts.

Students can study traditional

Indonesian gamelan music, dance,

wayang kulit, theatre, art, sculpture

and many other subjects.

All classes are in Indonesian.

ACICIS offers a semester-long

study option on Islamic Business

taught in English at Universitas

Islam Indonesia (UII) in

Yogyakarta.

The experience will give

participants a deeper

understanding of how Muslim

values can and do affect

approaches to business.

Interested in being a foreign

correspondent?

ACICIS offers a 6 week

Journalism Practicum in Jakarta in

January/February of each year.

There are 2 weeks in class then 4

weeks work experience with an

Indonesian media outlet.

No Indonesian language skills

necessary.

Australian academic to live in

Indonesia and supervise the ACICIS

program.

ACICIS staff provide help and

information, but students are

responsible for finding their own

accommodation.

This is not difficult as plenty of

student accommodation is

available.

Accommodation options are

relatively inexpensive by

Australian standards.

Can my children or partner

come?

We regularly arrange the same

visas for children and partners.

Can I go travelling in

Indonesia?

This is possible during the school

holidays. Many students travel all

over Indonesia.

ACICIS regards safety and

security as our first priority.

We give students accurate, up-to-

date information, but ACICIS

students are not like tourists.

They live in the community and

have 24 hour backup from

ACICIS staff.
