FEATURES This rare subspecies has adapted to

life in the temperate forests that make up the northern part of the species range.

The Amur leopard has soft yellow fur with black dots all over its body.

Its sense of smelling and listening is great therefore they are able to chase down foes with stealth.

The Amur leopard can run at speeds of up to 37 miles per hour(60km). This animal can leap more than 19 feet horizontally and up to 10 feet vertically.

The Amur leopard is Nimble footed and strong, it carries and hides kills so that they are not taken by other predators.

HABITAT The Amur Leopards habitat is

either in the mountains or forests. The Leopards only remain around the Russian, China border.

They use the forests for shelter like hiding in trees and they also use it to catch preys because of the many places they could hide in the dense forest.

They live in mostly broad leaf and mixed forests.

The mountains are also used to hide from poachers and predators as its safe up there although hunters eventually are able to find them, It takes a whole lot of time longer.

FACTS The Amur leopard is also known

as the Far East leopard. The Amur leopard is found in temperate forest habitat, which experience a wide range of variability in temperature. It is known to adapt to almost any habitat that provides it with sufficient food and cover.

The Amur Leopard is a carnivore therefore it eats meat.

The main preys are roe deer, sika deers, small wild boars, hares, badgers and raccoon dogs.

They live for 10-15 years.

WHY THEY MATTER?

The Amur leopard is important ecologically, economically and culturally.

Conservation of its habitat helps other species, including Amur tigers and prey species like deer.

There is currently only 30 left in the whole world which all live individually.

The Amur leopard has one of the most soft and beautiful spotted fur out of all the leopards.

WHY IS IT ENDANGERED? The Amur leopards are currently

critically endangered because of the small amount of them left in the wild because of the poachers.

The Amur leopard is poached mostly for its beautiful, spotted fur.

The female and male Amur leopard skin are being sold for more than $1000 each by hunters who poach their fur.

Villages surround the forests where the leopards live have many greedy hunters who would make an animal extinct just for some cash and As a result the forests are easily accessible, making poaching easy for the hunters.

HOW CAN WE HELP? There is currently a safe haven

set up for these leopards to start breeding their population back into a safe number however they will need many donations to succeed at this so they created a toy leopard which is being sold to help raise funds.
