Problem Statement: Client had multiple overlapping BI teams serving disparate organizations and an absence of common business analysis and process management across the BI
organization
Client Ask: Recommend an ideal state BI Organization
Solution: The Data Management Stack© was used to show the lopsided funding from
business, and how the business affiliation at the tip of the stack was causing motivational
issues for resources supporting the overall process. Also revealed the lack of Process focus.
Finally, the Roles and Responsibilities for the entire BI Org was structured around the Stack,
and the multi-year funding roadmap clearly designates the funding at each step of the data
value chain.

Problem Statement: Client needed to build a business case for investments in MDM
Client Ask: Create a 3-Year MDM Roadmap
Solution: Using the Data Management Stack©, the current IT spend was baselined. An
assessment including business stakeholder interviews, and technical assessment, revealed the
gaps in the expectation and current funding. Finally a 3-Year roadmap revealed potential
improvements in SLA, customer satisfaction and reduction in BI run management cost with
certain surgical MDM investments.
