It is extremely important that cable rollers are always used when pulling any cable. Types of cable rollers available include: Straight Line Cable Rollers. Manhole Entry Rollers. Bend Rollers. There are various uses for a cable roller depending on the environment. Examples of this being pulling cable through a trench would require a straight roller due to the narrowness of the roller and the legs long rounded legs allow it to sit on mud. Cable Drum Jacks Reid Brothers UK are able to supply various types of lightweight cable drum rotators, stands and spindles to suit various applications and environments. We are suppliers of a large range of drum handling equipment including; standard cable drum rotators (with optional anti-skid feet), heavy duty cable drum rotators, cable yard rotators and jacks and rotators for dispensing direct from vehicles. The types of cable drum handling equipment available are: Cable Drum Rotators. Cable Drum Stands. Cable Drum Screw Jacks. Cable Drum Hydraulic Jacks. Cable Drum Drum Bars/Spindles. There are various uses for a cable drum handling equipment which mainly depends on the environment. The variables that apply in choosing the correct cable drum handling equipment are weight of cable drum, ground conditions that the drum will be placed, and environment i.e. dispensing straight from a contractor vehicle or a cable yard. Cable Pulling Grips Reid Brothers UK are suppliers of a vast range of cable pulling grips, also known as cable stockings, pulling socks and sometimes known as Chinese fingers. Our Site Range of cable drum trailers are similar in construction and operation to the EEC range but the braking and lighting systems are not in line with EEC requirements. The Site range of cable drum trailers are generally of a higher carrying capacity to the EEC range and used on UK sites where lights and braking system are required or are also often used on highways in many Countries outside the EEC, particularly in the Middle East.

In addition to the EEC and Site ranges, we also offer a bespoke range of cable drum trailers where you, the customer, tailor the specification to suit the contract, drum capacity or budgetary requirements. You make the choices, service brakes, park brake or no brakes, hydraulic lift or rigid construction, lighting/no lights, suspension/no suspension, mudwings fitted or not etc. The unit illustrated is an 8 tonne unit with no suspension but fitted lights and service brakes.

3 Trailer accessories

Trailer drum safety guards, the guard illustrated is a full guard but these can be tailored to your individual spec/budget.

Mechanical drum brake fitted for overhead line applications or to prevent overrun of the drum (drum brake fitment reduces cable drum width).

Heavy duty zinc plated light guards.

Stainless steel number plate holder.

Multi volt (12 and 24V) LED lighting, invaluable when using a number of towing vehicles, takes away the hassle of bulb changing.

Removable electrical susie (curly cable) fitted in lieu of standard wiring. This helps prevent deterioration when not in use but also in the event of damage, the susie can be replaced without rewiring.

For trailer accessories

Additional optional extras include galvanised chassis, extension slides, spare wheels and tyres, spindle bearings, stepped collars to name but a few with tailored ancillaries available on request or go to www.tws-ltd.co.uk

Trailer accessories 3 Drum drive/drum lift system. Diesel or petrol engine versions available. The system enables the drum to be rotated thus assisting payout and paying in of the cable plus facilitating a powered lift. The unit can be supplied as a power lift only.

Export trailers 4 To reduce freight cost, trailers can be supplied in a knock down form, this enables wide units to be transported in Shipping containers or Tautliners.

This method also has the added advantage of having the optional facility to increase the width of the trailer by using adding insertion pieces for that occasional wide drum.

With this method of manufacture, we can ship up to 5 off CDT7.45 trailers in a 40’ container with ease and still have room for other equipment as illustrated with this Ghanaian contract.

Used & Reconditioned 5As well as manufacturing new trailers, TWS will service, repair and recondition trailers in your current fleet regardless of condition.

We will also buy your old units or take them as part exchange for new or used trailer or equipment in our portfolio.

For used equipment sales, visit our website for full listing.

*Above are single eye part numbers, for alternative styles, substitute the pre-fix (SE) with the pre-fix from the styles listed below.

Single Eye (SE) – Ideal for pulling medium to heavy loads, the pull can only be achieved from the cable end.

Fleeting Eye (FE) – Similar to the SE type but for use when offset positioning is required and the cable can pass completely through the cable grip.

Double Eye (DE) – Suitable for pulling medium to heavy loads, the main advantage to the SE Type is that the cable can be passed through the grip thus enabling the pull to be made at various stages down the cable.

Lace Up (LU) – Similar to the DE type but the grip is positioned on the cable and then stitched together. This is particularly useful when the pull is from someway down the cable or when there is a connector on the cable end.

Open Ended (OE) – Ideal for joining 2 cables and mainly used when old cable is being replaced with new (see our website for specifications).

Non-Conductive (NC) – Ideal for use in water, fibre optic applications, offshore or for a multitude of uses in the electrical industry; dramatically improved weight to break ratio and made of a high-strength, non-conductive aramid fibre (see our website for specifications).
