What is Sygic

The road to success is long and most of the time full of adversity. Most entrepreneurs have wished more than once for a GPS that can guide them to success, but unfortunately such a device doesn’t exist and each of us has to find our own “quick route” to triumph. What does exist is an almost perfect navigation app that offers accurate offline maps and real time information for most mobile devices. Its name is Sygic, and its founder and CEO of the SYGIC Company, Michal Stencl, is our speaker on 28th January 2014.

Long Road to Success

Michal Stencl, co-founder and CEO of this company, based in the heart of Europe – Slovakia, started programming at the age of seven. By his twenties he had already finished programming his own operating system. Since then, his journey through business has been full of achievements. In 2004 Michal co-founded SYGIC and two years later, after signing a partnership with the global map provider Navteq, started to develop iDrive, their first navigator app for Windows. The vehicle was already in motion, but to achieve today’s 35 Million users there was still a long way to go.

In 2007 Sygic signed one of their most important partnerships with TeleAtlas. They provide extremely accurate maps to millions of users all over the world. In the same year, the company launched their multi-platform navigation system that could be adjusted to any hardware and launched a navigation system for Windows Mobile and Microsoft Smartphone. The recognition of the company’s success did not take long to arrive and in 2008 SYGIC was awarded the Deloitte Rising Star among Fastest-growing Technology Companies in Central and Eastern Europe. From then on, their success rocketed.

In 2009 Sygic became the first navigation application for iPhone available on App Store and only a year later they became the first GPS system with real 3D navigation. offline navigation app with 20 Million installations, quickly superseeded in 2013 with 30 Million downloads.

Sygic’s Secret Sauce

But what makes Sygic an app used by millions? Sygic is an offline maps navigation system that allows your device to access maps. It is available in more than 30 languages. Just that is reason enough to download it, but this must-have application comes with more. Apart from all you can ask from a GPS system; quick access to accurate maps and updated information, this multi award winning app will guide you through any place you want with beautiful and detailed 3D maps that are easy to follow. Lane guidance is included as well, to make those busy roads a little bit easier to understand when you’re in heavy traffic.

Other useful features such as your current speed or the option to see upcoming cameras are also included, as so are regular and automatic updates with accurate information about closed roads or heavy traffic. This simple yet comprehensive app is the perfect complement to any driver and it is ranked between the most 20 downloaded apps in more than 40 countries.

Newsflash

Jaguar and Land Rover have recently announced the Integration of Sygic in their smartphone app integration platform – InControl Apps. It offers the user a quick and easy access to their apps, for a safer and more convenient use in their vehicles. Undoubtedly, one of the best partnerships a navigation development company could dream of. Thanks to this In-Car connectivity, drivers will receive updated and personalized information through their Smartphones, integrating and interacting with it in real time while driving. Michal Stencl commented: “We believe that having Smartphone integration with a car’s infotainment system is the wave of the future, and we’re confident that many drivers will enjoy a more personalized approach to navigation.”
