I placed my main image on my document as a starting base.

I changed the size of the image by holding down the shift key and dragging the corners, this ensured my image wouldn’t get distorted. Then I positioned it where it fit the page nicely.

I added my masthead in a simple black, Arial font. I created a think, outlined box around the masthead to make it stand out. I also ensured my image was in front of the masthead.

From my questionnaire results, I found that most people wanted bright colours on the cover as it stands out and appeals to them more. Therefore I added a bright blue, box around the masthead in order to attract the readers. I also changed the font of the masthead to something I felt suited the genre a bit more as the other one looked too formal.

I added my coverlines in order to fill some of the white spaces, and made some coverlines blue, in order to maintain a consistent colour scheme.

I felt the page looked too dull as it had too much black on it and needed more colour so I chose to add backgrounds to some of the main coverlines in order to brighten the page. I used orange and yellow as I felt this fit in well with the summer edition of the magazine. Also, I added a bright blue footer where I can place all the pricing in.

I placed some more images and shapes onto the page as the bottom of the page looked too bare. I did this because my results had shown that the readers would like more a more image based cover. I placed images along the footer and positioned the barcode in the bottom right corner. I also enlarged the main coverline as I felt it looked too small, and needed to draw more attention.

I changed the sizing of the barcode as I felt it looked too big.

After looking at the cover, I changed the size of the barcode back to its original size and added the price/issue date. I also added more bold text in the footer as it looked to empty. Also, I added a few bright yellow flashers In order to complete the look of the magazine.
