DIVERSION BASED IRRIGATION

What?

• Simply divert water from natural source for irrigation purpose

• We also call it gravity flow

•Many farmers in hilly region are seen to be using this through earthen canal

• Water available at higher elevation than the field to be irrigated

• Mainly perennial hilly streams• Targeting the poorest of the poor residing near

the hills
