Reflection:

Outstanding Lesson for Written Communication

As soon as I started to observe my group at the practice center I

noticed that these students had difficulty in writing skills. My cooperating

teacher is always emphasizing in identifying complete sentences by using

Page 4: Effective Writing Communication Lesson Plan

capital letters at the beginning and ending punctuation at the end. Due to

this fact this students could identify complete sentences but still presented

difficulties in writing to describe a picture. In this plan the students were

instructed to write one simple three words sentence related to their

paintings. This lesson was given on a Saint Valentine’s day in order to

connect the English class with activities celebrated in the school on this day.

I first gave the students the opportunity to do what they like most which is

painting, then I asked to write just one sentence. To my surprised the

students were motivated enough to meet my objectives. The students could

handle writing one sentence. These pictures were not only about Saint

Valentines but the pictures were related to the story being treated in class. I

was extremely happy because I had my students create their own three

words simple sentences to describe a given picture.
