ENDANGERED SPECIES
Endangered species is population which is at risk of being extinct because it is either few in numbers, or threatened by changing by environmental or pradation parameteres
Endangered species are divided into 5 groups-
1. Critically endangered2. Endangered 3. Vulnerable4. Near threat5. Least concern
CRITICALLY ENDANGERED SPECIES
Critically endangered species are species that faces an extremely high risk of extinction in the immediate future.
EXAMPLES
Ethopian wolf-found altitudes above 3,000m in Alfro-alpine regions of Ethopia.
Philippine eagle- found in forests of philippines
Mountain gorilla- found in Virunga volcanic mountains of central Africa
Arakan forest turtle- found on Arakan hills of western Mayanmar
Endangered species
Endangered species are species that faces a very high risk of extiction in near future
Examples• Blue whale - found in all major oceans• Asian elephant- found in southeast Asia• Bornean orangutan – found in island Borneo• Giant panda- found in central-western and south –eastern China
Vulnerable species
Vulnerable species are species that faces a high risk of extinction in the medium term.
Examples•
Sloth bear - found within indian subcontinent
• Galapagos tortoise - found in Galapagos islands• Clouded leopard - found in Himalayan foothills • Great white shark - found in all major oceans
NEAR THREATENED
Near threatened species that may be considered threatened in the near future
Examples• Solitary eagle - found in Mexico and Central and South America
• Striped hyena - found in north and east Africa• Southern white rhinoceros – found in east and central Africa of sahara• Crowned crane - found in savannah of Africa south of sahara
LEAST CONCERN Least concern species don’ t have immediate threat to survival
EXAMPLES • Giraffe – native of Africa• American alligator - found in southeastern United states• Red- tailed hawk – found in North America, Alaska, Canada, Panama and West indies• Meerkat – found in Kalahari deserts, Namib desert and South Africa
WAYS TO PROTECT ENDANGERED SPECIES
• Stop hunting• Don’t cut trees• Make more parks and santuries• Tell friends , gfamily and neighbours that animals are very important• Don’t use harmful chemicals• Recycle and reuse things
