The Institute for Research and Consultancy Studies
• A center that was expanded to become the Institute in 2009.
• The objectives of the Institute: - Maximize the contribution towards development plans and building a knowledge-based society - Increase the cooperation between the university and the public and private sectors. - Provide research and consulting services for public and private sectors.
Houses of Expertise Unit
• The unit utilizes the scientific expertise, and specialization of the university faculty staff members.
• Its mission is to provide expertise, technical consultancy and research to transform knowledge and experience available to the University and its employees to projects targeting commercial and financial returns.
• With sixty houses in different disciplines managed by scientific personnel with specilized experience in the field of training and educational consulting, the Unit has a key impact on the Community.
The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
• A center that was expanded to become the Institute in 2012.
• It promotes entrepreneurship culture, creativity, innovation and knowledge transfer. It supports the development of knowledge-based economy with experience and expertise available to the employees of the university. It hosts innovation and technology incubators to help students and graduates start their own business.
Makkah Techno Valley Company
• An investment holding company owned by University of Umm Al-Qura with initial capital of SAR 100 million to support knowledge-based economy.
• Makkah Techno Valley Company invests in technology transfer, developing products, scientific and technical solutions based on research and innovation at the University of Umm Al-Qura.
• The company also hosts research and development centers in collaborations with international companies.

Intellectual Property Management Unit
• Established in Mid 2011, to play a key role in managing Intellectual Property. It provides financial support and managing advices to all students, employees and members of the community.
• As a young unit, it was able to register four patent
applications in the United States.
