What is Green revolution ?

•The beginnings of green revolution are often attributed to Norman Borlaug, he began research on high yield varieties of wheat.•After the success of green revolution in Mexico , the technologies are spread worldwide.
Green revolution in India • In 1961, to overcome mass famine government wanted to take huge step in agriculture.•MS Swaminatham lead the green revolution.•It is first started in punjab and haryana because of good water resources

• Continued expansion of farming areas
• Double cropping existing farmland
• Using seeds with improved genetics
Results of Green revolution
• Growth of local manufacture sector
• Yield is increased three times
• starving nation to exporter of food
Limitations of green revolution
• Increased of use of fertilizers • Effects fertility of land • The new farming techniques has given
birth to water pollution• Only punjab and haryana showed better
results
Conclusion
• In conclusion the green revolution has its positives and negatives but the green revolution saved over a billion of people all over the world from famine and provided more food sources. Although, it had some negative effects on the environment such as using high levels of pesticides and chemicals.
