In studio photography, you need to use artificial backdrops as there is limitation to effects that you can get with plain walls. Even if you are using these tools, it is hard to get desired effect unless you are particular about certain factors

Remove All Distracting Articles

From The Frame

When you are clicking a photograph, your focus should be the subject. But sometimes other articles also get into the frame, unnecessarily distracting the attention of the viewer. One should get rid of all such articles.

Backdrop fabric should

not be too bright

Bright photography backdrop also distracts attention of the viewer. If the background is too bright, you should be replaced with a neutral and gentle colour. Black, grey or any other dim colour can be a good alternative

Blur The Background

Blurring the background is a good way of making the subject more prominent. This effect can be obtained if the model is made to sit away from the backdrop.

Use Dim Light For The backdrop

Light used for illuminating the backdrop should be dimmer than the key and fill light. This technique also helps in highlighting the subject. Sometimes light projected on the background screen is also switched off for creating black or grey backdrop
