3. Agenda !! What is Information Centers?!! Why do we need
Information Centers ?!! Components of Information Centers
Clustering : Active-Active Cluster. Active-Passive Cluster.
Mirroring. Summary (Video)!!!
4. What is Information centers?!! Informationcenter is a place
that contains the data of the organization stored on servers.
Simplythe information system is like the place where we can keep
all the data of the organization safe and accessible.
5. Why do we need them?!! Security. Connectivity.
Maintenance.
6. Security More secure to have all the servers in one place
and put physical security over them. Also no one has ever succeeded
in hacking an Information Centerfrom outside.
7. Connectivity Connectivity would be easier than placing each
server on a deferent site and connect them together. Connection is
established using Fiber optics or twisted shielded pair cable.
8. Fiber Optics & Twisted Shield
9. Maintenance Cheaper than maintaining every server alone at
it own site!!!
10. Components of InformationCenters Air Condition.
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). Servers: Rack servers. Plate
Servers.
11. Air Conditioners The most popular brand is Thompson. They
must stay up and running (working)24/7.
12. UPS Very Important and Expensive. Provides fail over when
the electricity goes off. Itprovides the servers with powerto save
their sessions and shut down safely.
13. Servers The most important component. Servers are the data
holders. Two types of servers are used in Information Centers: Rack
servers. Plate servers.
14. Rack servers
15. Plate servers
16. Clustering Cluster: when two or more servers are connected
to each other physically or wireless they said to be a Cluster.
Clustering: Sharing Data and Requests over a Cluster. We will
discuss two types of clusters : Active-Active Clustering.
Active-Passive Clustering.
17. Clustering
18. Active-Active Clustering Allservers of the cluster are up
and running. The incoming request goes to the server with the
minimum number of requests. Thiscluster provides high availability
But also has a lack of reliability.
19. Active-Passive Clustering Also called the Fail Over Cluster
Only one server is up and running All other servers on the cluster
is idle. When the up server goes down other server fail over and
take his place. This cluster provides high reliability and
availability.
20. Mirroring Techniqueused to keep the data updated in all the
servers on the cluster. Alsoused to keep back ups of the data in
case of the server goes down or the power goes off.
