Who built Lady Liberty?

• Frederic Bartholdi, a French sculptor, was awarded with the Design Patent for designing Lady Liberty.

• It is believed that Frederic Bartholdi used his mom’s ,head to make a model.

What is Lady Liberty?

• She is a famous landmark.

• The Statue of Liberty was made with concrete for the pedestal, iron for the shell, and copper for the skin.

• Her copper skin is thinner than two pennies stacked on each other.

When was she built?

• She was designed in eighteen seventy six.

• She was built in eighteen ninety six.

Where was Lady Liberty built?

• She was built in Paris ,then disassembled and shipped to New York where she was reassembled in her current location.

• Her replica , in France was built facing her.

Why was the Statue of Liberty Built?

• The Statue was built and donated by French, because the they allied with the U.S. during the American revolution.

Interesting Stuff

• Winds at fifty miles an hour can tilt the statue up to three inches and the torch five inches.

• There are hundreds of replicas of her erected around the world.

• The statue was built in France and rebuilt in the U.S.

• It broke a world record of the biggest man made structure; beating the Brooklyn Bridge by twenty nine feet.

• The original design had her with shackles on her hands ,but in the final design she is stepping over chains.
