Most of the designers fail to realize their function. CTA’s are too valuable to be placed carelessly on a web page while disregarding their real purpose.

The call-to-action button is one of the most important elements of a web page.

Design And Copy Of The CTA Matters As Much As Its Functions:

Role Of Copy In Call-to-action Buttons:

The copy is what makes the user decide whether they should click on it or not. Its main purpose is to help visitors make their mind up as to why they should be clicking on the button. IT also provides with an idea of what will happen next.

However the copy should also go to the overall web page. Using the generic terms for call-to-action buttons does not impact conversion as much as it should.

Here are a few tips for a Copy that clicks:

A Clear Message:

Ensure that the button indicates exactly what the user is expecting when they click on it. There are times when designers use a copy that mean something else and take the users somewhere else. For instance, don’t say ‘submit’ when you mean ‘start my free trial today’.

A Sense Of Urgency:

Remind the customers about the opportunity disappearing if not acted towards it impulsively.

Ease Their Worries:

Include an extra copy like it's easy, or its free and quick to address potential concerns, let them know how clicking the button won’t be a pain.

Using Proper Color And Size:

It is important to balance its size; too big buttons can distract the users in a negative way while too small buttons can get lost among all the other elements. Determine a proper size considering the size of the webpage and its elements.

The color of the button is as much vital as its size. Use a color that goes with the overall design as well as should be able to catch the user’s eyes. Make sure it is bright enough to stand out.

It’s Placement:

The best place for the call-to-action button is just above the fold. Remember to not place a button where the users will have to scroll to click it. Place it in a way, where the users can easily access and view it.

To avoid the user’s ignorance, it is advisable to place one button at the top and one at the bottom. This way it won’t go unnoticed.
