What to expect from Android in 2013!

The New Year is here, and we would like to begin with forwarding our heartiest best wishes for this year to one and all. People have a knack of going through various predictions on the commencement of a new day, new week, new month or perhaps New Year. If you have gone through what fortunes have in its store for you in the year 2013, let us now take you on a completely different joy ride. For a tech crazy geek like us (and we believe most of you out there as well,) nothing can ever be more appealing than foreseeing what the technology has in its store for us.

Though it is hard to predict, all with the capricious nature of technology, we have tried to track down top 5 predictions for Android, which the tech Gurus all over believe we’ll get to see in the coming months. Have a look at our food for thought, and let us know what you feel about our predictions.

1. Android is going to take a leap into your living room!

As weird as it may sound, but in the year 2013, you must get geared up to welcome Android in your living room. We’ll explain how. In the year 2012, we saw various announcements pertaining to Nexus Q and Ouya, which were followed by the tireless efforts of Google to resuscitate its Google TV system. With Android’s flexibility and popularity, we may have Google giving up on Google TC and working with OEMs to give birth to a range of smart TVs powered by Android.

2. Android 5.0 update with better features

An update can be safely forecasted in this year for Android. But the question remains, what will the release of Android 5.0 bring along with it? Performance updates and an up gradation of the user interface are indicated on the charts. Also, experts predict that the new update will focus more on people and social interaction etc.

3. More of flamboyant colors

When Nokia Lumia is doing it and so is the HTC, why would Android be left far away? Nokia Lumia introduced a lot of bright and classy colors, a trend that was curtly followed by the HTC in their Windows Phone 8X and 8s. Thus, we are expecting (and hoping!!!) android to shower a sweet dazzle of different colors in its up coming avatars.

4. Goodbye to the good old wired charging

It is probably that charging one’s cell phone may just go completely wire less and hassle free. Nexus already has Qi wireless charging, which is quite different (and did we hear better as well?!) from the PMA wireless charging deal of Google with Starbucks. It is expected that Qi wireless charging will attain the prime position, especially with Nokia adapting to the same technology with its new Lumia devices. Albeit the OEMs have to agree to this new prospect, which can be a bit daunting as The Verge, revealed certain compatibility concerns with this new Qi technology.

Let’s wait and hope that even Android devices go wireless.

5. Sales of Android tablets to surpass that of iPhones

You may doubt this predictions of ours, but if the sources are to be believed, the sales of Android tablet will over take that of the iPhones by the mid of 2013. The market for the smart phones is increasing, and so there will be a vast majority of people who may not comfortably afford iPhone, but are happy to pay for a Nexus or other leading Android phones.
