Prepare your GPS Traces File Ahead

Prepare the GPS traces ahead like download from a GPS device.

Be notice that the GPS traces file ends with ".gpx"

Upload and Edit your GPS Trace

Check your GPS Trace

In order to have a better view, uncheck the "Dim" and check the "Sharpen" from the "Background".

Check your GPS Trace

The blue trace left shows the trace of the GPX file.

Inoder to see this blue trace clearly, you can change the Map Style value to "wireframe".

Another way to open your trace file:

Choose "My trace" under the GPS bar,and than load a GPX file by click "Load".

Outline the RoadOutline a part of your trace that stands for road:

Or you can lengthen the road that is already set like showed in left just by outline from the end point.

Set a Tag for the Road Choose a tag for the road, like this: Roads--Tertiary Links

Edit the Detailed InformationEdit the detailed information about the road. Since the GPS data comes from surving, so edit "surving" in Source.

Save Changes and Write some Comments

Make some comments about why you did those changes. And finally click Save.

See the Changes You Have Made

The changes are immediately showed in Potlatch2 Editing window. Wait a few minutes and you can see the changes in the Standard View window.

Conclution

Take a GPS device with you when you are out for travelling, picnicking or running. Record the trace and edit something new in OpenStreetMap for yourself or for everyone.
