public libraries gathered to form a consortium to purchase OverDrive eBooks & audio eBooks.

Each put in $1000 for an initial group purchase.

Spring 2010 ~ 25 public libraries are consortium members whose patrons access: eBooks (Adobe PDF, EPUB

& MobiPocket formats) Audio eBooks (WMA &

MP3 formats) eVideos

Adobe PDF for laptop computers or portable devices such as PDA’s.

MobiPocket Reader for tablet pc’s, laptops, and PDA’s.

Adobe EPUB– available for all of the above PLUS Sony Readers & Nook (Will not work on Kindles or the iPad.)

WMA (Windows Media Audio) Audiobooks for compatible MP3 players & smart phones. Many titles will also work on iPods, iPhones & iPads. Some may be burned to CDs. Single copy books as well as “always available” titles. May be checked out for either 7 or 14 days.

MP3 Audiobooks for MP3 players including iPods, smart phones including iPhone, Blackberry & Droid as well as the iPad. Single copy books only. Mobile apps for iPhone, Blackberry, Droid, & Windows

Mobile 5 or 6 available so no computer transfer is needed.

eVideoseVideos – Always available. May be downloaded to a pc, tablet pc, laptop, or

WMV compatible portable device.

After three different subscriptions to e-video collections through OverDrive, the consortium will be ending this format soon. (Netflixs and Amazon do it better!)

How Does It Work?How Does It Work? Users download free software

at web site. Patrons use their library cards

to check out or reserve materials.

Maximum of 10 titles may be checked out at any 1 time.

eVideos go out for 7 days. All others are 14 or 7 day loan.

Automatically “returned” after due date. Delete file manually.
