DESCRIPTION
A lecture given originally at EComm in Amsterdam 2009, Peers in the City explores aspects of the intelligent city, cultural innovations around freelancers and crowd curated events like Barcamp, as well as outlining some of the ubiquitous computing technologies being developed by this leading edge of practisioners against the context of gradual climate degredation and economic uncertainty.

The intelligence, inventiveness and creativity of the individuals who live and work in the city.

2nd dimension of an intelligent city:
relates to the collective intelligence of a city’s population: ‘the capacity of human communities to co-operate intellectually in creation, innovation and invention’.
3rd dimension of an intelligent city:
relates to artificial intelligence embedded into the physical environment of the city and available to the city’s population: communication infrastructure, digital spaces and public problem-solving tools available to the city’s population.
