Goals for PhilaPlace
• Provide a rich, layered view of Philadelphia’s historic neighborhoods through place-based storytelling
• Explore how neighborhoods change over time with the introduction of new immigrant groups and other factors
• Provide a platform for partner organizations and individual visitors to share place-based historical and cultural stories and tours
• The Future: Expand beyond the two pilot neighborhoods of South Philly and Northern Liberties to all the city’s neighborhoods

MyPhilaPlace gives visitors a place to save stories and create tours [text to come]
Stories saved or submitted by
visitor will appear when logged in
Map saved stories in Google
Nominate a series of stories as a tour
(such as stories submitted
showcasing an organization’s neighborhood
landmarks). HSP will create and add
to Tours.
Saved Stories mapped in Google appear with place name and location, allowing visitors to
print driving or walking directions and more
Select “Add a Story” at any time to
begin simple story

Upload a variety of media files including images, audio, and
video. Accepts multiple media files
with each story submission
Enter author name,
organization name and website
HSP terms state both story creator and HSP share rights to publish
story and related media that is uploaded
to PhilaPlace site
Receive feedback and email notifying visitor that
story is submitted. Another email will be
generated when story is approved and live on site
Join PhilaPlace!
• Create an account, save stories, map locations in Google
• Submit stories and related media about your organization
– If you are in South Philly or Northern Liberties your stories will be available right away
– If you are in another neighborhood your story will be saved until your neighborhood is added to the site
• Spread the word! Encourage others to submit stories and media
• The more stories added in a neighborhood, the more likely that neighborhood will be added next
• The more stories added, the more likely PhilaPlace will receive more funding to grow in the future
• PhilaPlace (www.philaplace.org) launch date: Dec 2009
