energy from the Sun?

How do living things get energy from the Sun? STOP HERE and Brainstorm!

Things to consider

How do humans get energy?

What do all organisms need to survive?

What form of energy comes from the Sun?

How do cells obtain energy?

Why are plants so important?

Page 3: Photosynthesis r1

What is photosynthesis? The process that plants use to make

their own food (in the form of glucose) In plant cells, organelles called

chloroplasts contain chlorophyll

Chlorophyll makes photosynthesis possible

Page 4: Photosynthesis r1

The chlorophyll absorbs sunlight.

Page 5: Photosynthesis r1

The sunlight is combined with water,

and carbon dioxide.

Page 6: Photosynthesis r1

The chlorophyll processes the ingredients and makes glucose and oxygen. This process is called photosynthesis.

Page 7: Photosynthesis r1

Write a WORD equation for the photosynthesis reaction.

Page 8: Photosynthesis r1

Plants and animals need each other to survive.

Page 9: Photosynthesis r1

Animals including humans make the CO2 (carbon dioxide) plants need.Plant use light energy to make the O2 (oxygen) and C6H12O6 (glucose) we need.

Use the information above to write a chemical equation showing the photosynthesis reaction

We all know that plants grow?

A single seedling can grow to a massive tree

Where does the mass in the tree come from?
