IDEA 1

I have a few ideas about the central image I will have on my front cover.

My first idea is to use a close up of my “musician’s” face. This format is usually used to emphasise a musician’s facial features such as striking eyes or applied make up. The striking eyes would cause the magazine cover to attract readers as the eyes become the focal point of the cover. This format is also used to highlight emotions and radiate them to the reader.

I will use a close up shot if I can find a model with an attractive face, with striking features which I could intensify through Photoshop. This layout requires a an attractive face as it is the first image the reader will see, if it unattractive or bland the reader would just walk past.

IDEA 2

The second idea is to use a low-angle mid shot of two musicians. The musicians would have confident expressions. The use of a low angle will make them seem powerful to the readers and someone to look up to. The confident expression combined with the angle and stance will make them seem strong and self-assured; this would attract readers who would be interested in how the became so confident in themselves and why.

This type of shot though requires a complimentary colour scheme as a contrasting colour could lessen the effectiveness of their pose. This shot also obliges me to use an effective background to emphasise the musicians and not let them blend into the background.

IDEA 3

My final idea involves a high angle group shot with the musicians holding their instruments. This would create an effect reminiscent of a crowd at a gig. This would also denote that the band performs tours and that they are always ready to play music. The problem with this cover is that due to the amount of people on the magazine, too much text can make the cover look busy. The background would have to be simple as the attention must be focused on the musicians.
