PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN ONLINE: TIPS FOR PARENTS

• Keep the family computer in a central and open location in your home and know what other computers your children may be using.

• Set rules and guidelines for your children’s online activities and post them by the computer as a reminder.

• Set parental controls within your web browser by clicking Tools on your menu bar, select Internet Options, choose the Content tab, and click the Enable button under Content Advisor.

• Consider purchasing software that allows you to monitor your children’s emails and online activity.

• Know who your children are connecting with online and supervise their chat areas.

• Stress the importance of children not giving out personal information online.
