NEREIDS Scenario WorkshopThe Sahana Software Foundation is dedicated to the mission of saving lives by providing information management solutions that enable organizations and communities to better prepare for and respond to Disasters.

We have chosen to present you with one of our programs; Sahana EDEN, a flexible humanitarian platform with a rich feature set which can be rapidly customized to adapt to existing processes and integrate with existing systems to provide effective solutions for critical humanitarian needs management either prior to or during a crisis.

We will further introduce you to Sahana Resource Mapping System developed by the IFRC for the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in the Asia Pacific, and is now used in Africa & Syria as well.

SummaryEveryone can be affected by disasters whether personally or indirectly. Disaster Management professionals are kept busy responding to events of all scales, yet find time to explore the use of more sophisticated toolsets.

The Sahana Project was conceived by people on the front lines of the 2004 Sri Lanka Tsunami in order to coordinate the rescue efforts.

The word "sahana" means "relief" in Sinhalese. This has evolved to provide solutions to both prepare for and respond to disasters no matter where they happen.

Sahana Eden is an open source software platform which provides a range of solutions to Disaster Management practitioners to help them reduce the impact disasters have on our communities through tracking the needs of the affected populations & coordinating the responding agencies & their resources
