12/04/2023 HISTORY OF KOTA KUALA MUDAKuala Muda is a small fishing village located at the mouth of Sungai MudaSince ancient times, Kuala Muda is one of Kedah's most important ports.There is a fort at Kuala Muda, called Kota Kuala Muda, which was built in the 18th centuryKota Kuala Muda continued to flourish after the British occupied Penang Island, stimulated by the rise in trade and prosperity of PenangIn 1811 Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin made Kuala Muda his residence, to escape increasing pressure from the ThaiWhen the Thais invaded Kedah in 1821, he was still living in Mudla MudaDuring this time the economy of Kedah suffered under their rule, and the glory days of Kuala Muda as a significant port came to an end.

BADLY HIT BY TSUNAMI IN DEC,26.2004

Kuala Muda was one of the areas badly hit by the December 2004 tsunami. As a result of the tsunami, over 4000 people had to be evacuated and placed in temporary shelter in 8 schools.

TSUNAMI MONUMENT The Kuala Muda Tsunami Monument is a monument in the village of Kuala Muda, Kedah. It was erected to remember those who perished during the great tsunami which hit Kuala Muda on 26 December, 2004.The Tsunami Monument of Kuala Muda is shaped as a stacked of fishing boats piled one over the other.

trace the path of Kedah ancient capitals.) Economic activity that well known in jetty kota kuala

muda (whispering activity at 7-10 a.m.) Facilities serve there etc: homestay, boats, Surau. Attract people to come because of Tsunami hit that

place Local people culture :-Very friendly & Have their own

secrect recipes like Mee Udang at pulau sayak 3.4km from jetty kuala muda (food tourism)

WEAKNESS :-It is far from Sungai Petani Town areaDon’t have good facilities serviceEtc: Police station, school , post office is far from fisherman village, jetty is quit old, Don’t have information centre for tourist guidelineTourism area like Tsunami Gallery not operation at allSome villagers are very far behind in technology etc: don’t have hand phone, cars.
