DESCRIPTION
In this ppt we analyze the current sw/communication where cloud and SaaS become trending topics. Our view explains how we consider the capabilities being capable of being offered as platform are diverse, and it offer opportunities to players to offer new capabilities as platforms and final developers to have additional tools for their solutions to their customers. Also mentioned the probable M&A operations and the Solaiemes aimed niche.

Beyond the “Cloud”.The multi-layerplatform ecosystem. Trends. Opportunities
a bit of state of the art…
The network bandwidth (fixed and mobile networks) is finally making “remote computing” feasible, with a twist from previous attempts. The “always connected” state is becoming usual.
Mash-up’s combining different features from different providers are common, and reduce the cost and time to market of delivering complex solutions.
The “platform” emerging as a new business case. Offering pay as you go capabilities: 3rd parties will find and fine tune the final use cases.
the simple picture
“Cloud”
API’s to access cloud capabilities(elastic computing, storage, VoIP, locations, maps, etc)
Web/Mobile/UC Applications (Social Media, CRM, ERP, communications, LBS, etc)
advantages…Shorter Time to Market
Easier adding additional Features
Lots of use cases
sharing same
capabilities
Affordable try & buy
of feature API’s
Reduced CAPEX
but….
API’s to access to cloud capabilities(elastic computing, storage, VoIP, locations, maps, etc)
The API’s layer is not unidimensional .It’s multi-faceted
the real scenario
The real access to cloud capabilities interface is a matrix of the different capabilities and multiple vendors in each section.Developers can use only the ones they need and choose the vendors
Cloud/SaaS… players

Here some examples of Cloud/SaaS players in different niches, there are some more niches and growing, and also the number of players in each segment. ECOSYSTEM GROWS, and small start-ups can grow meaningfully.

When big players as Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle-SUN, IBM are coming to this business, are there opportunities for new small players?
YES !!! Small players will find niche opportunities with new “features” to be offered as platform/cloud/SaaS model. The ecosystem will be the spearhead of innovation.
Which is the opportunity of leading IT Companies (Accenture, CapGemini, CGI, IBM, HP, Atos, etc) ?
Discovering niche features applying with their costumer base to become “platform” and use its own platform to extend the customer base. Additionally IT leading companies will have the chance to acquire small niche players
Can the CARRIERS keep a leading role or they may accept to become a mere dumb pipe ?
Carriers have the advantage of being the connectivity providers, they can build their own application layers on top, and offer different use cases using common communication enablers, but they need to cooperate more and faster with ecosystem to avoid loosing their last chance.

Some companies will prefer to widen their scope and increase their portolio of platform capabilities offer as a way to serve better their customers. This scenario can be reached opening additional R+D lines or merging/acquiring complementary companies.
facts, summaryCloud/SaaS offers opportunities
for: platform companies, developers using the capbilitiesoffered and also for “clouding
SW” (i.e: Abiquo)
An scenario of opportunities appear for small players able to offer their solutions as SaaS to
the Global Market
Big IT Players are currently working to adapt their offer,
Instead, the carriers are to slow to adapt to the current trend
In the next years the outsiders to lead the new paradigm will
compete both, growing internally and using M&A
