THE 24-HOUR HACKATHON Hundreds of hackers and developers form small teams for an all-night hack session, utilizing various APIs and tools that sponsors make available to the teams. The next day each team has one minute to present their demo to an expert panel of judges and API-presenting sponsors. These pitches are livestreamed on TechCrunch. Prizes go to dozens of hacker teams, some of which have gone on to form new companies. This year, the youngest hacker ever to present on the Disrupt stage, nine-year-old Alexandra Jordan, quickly became an audience favorite with her presentation Super Fun Kid Time, and was one of the most watched videos of Disrupt. 23. STARTUPALLEY & HARDWAREALLEY Outside the main stage, hundreds of early-stage companies exhibit in Startup Alley.
