+ An ability to solve problems quickly and fairly. An effective project leader identifies lessons learned throughout the life cycle of a project and applies learning to each subsequent project and task.

+ An interest in maintaining open communication. Every project needs a plan, and team members must be on board with that plan. An expected flow of communication means all colleagues and clients are aware of meetings, status updates, project progress, contingencies, roadblocks, and more.

+ Expertise in the field. A project leader is more than a President of the organization. He or she should have specific and thorough knowledge of the field, including insights into industry trends, strategic partnerships, expected processes, and tools.
