DESCRIPTION

Virtual Reality is a way to submerged into the imaginary world even being in real world. The two words contrast each other. Here we combine virtual which mean imaginary and reality which means something which actually exist. Hence virtual reality signifies making the imaginary things to seem as they are in real world

VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual reality is computer generated multi-sensory

information program which tracks a user in real time.

It is a technology which allow user to visualize,

manipulate and interact with a computer

simulated environment.

Virtual reality is, plainly speaking, Seeing, hearing, smelling,

testing, feeling an imaginary world, rather than the real

one. The imaginary world is a simulation running in a

computer. The sense data is fed by some system to our

brain.

NON IMMERSIVE SYSTEM

It is “through the window” system.

It involves displaying virtual world on a screen without surrounding

the user.

Augmented realityAugmented reality (AR) is a term for a

live direct or an indirect view of a

physical, real-world environment whose

elements are augmented by computer-

generated sensory input, such as sound

or graphics, haptic feedback.

User Stay in real world, but

see simulated objects

IMMERSIVE SYSTEM

A type of VR in which the user

becomes immersed (deeply

involved) in a virtual world.

The CAVE (Cave Automatic

Virtual Environment) provides

the illusion of immersion by

projecting stereo images on

the walls and floor of a room-

sized cube.

User See simulated world and

"be" in that simulated world.

ADVANTAGES

DISADVANTAGES

VR replacing reality. Disengagement with real world. People preferring VR to reality. Difficulty of distinguishing between virtual and real, ‘false realities represented in

VR. Lack of standardization of hardware and protocols Possible impacts on real body

FUTURE

●1999 10% of the world's computing power was

non-human

●2029 99% of the world's computing capacity

will be non-human

we should have computers powerful enough to run immersive VR programs in every home by the year 2037.
