Acid Water

Water containing an amount of acidic substances below pH 7.0

Soft Water

Any water containing low concentrations ofdissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

Melt water

Water produced by melting snow or ice

Fresh water

Water does not contain significant levels of dissolved minerals or salt

Bottled waterWater that is bottled and sold in individual packages.

Drinking water

Water that is safe for drinking and cooking.

Sewage

Water containing human waste, animal or food.

TributaryStream or river which flows or secondary flows into other major.

Water cycleThe process, driven by solar evaporation, condensation and precipitation that moves water from the oceans and the Earth to the atmosphere and then return it.

Condesation

The process whereby a liquid is converted into steam.

Rainfall

Measurement of rainfall in a locality or region over a given time.

Brackish water slightly salty

The brackish water in the Earth's surface often occurs inestuaries and lagoons where they meet the freshwater and saltwater.

Acid rain

Rain that has an extremely low pH, due to contact with atmosphericpollutants such as sulfur oxides.

Not easily penetrable by water.

Waterland

Land moist.

Having an affinity for water

Any alteration of physical, chemical or biological water that causes damage to living beings.

Pollution

Chlorination

Action to chlorinate drinking water to make or improve hygienic conditions.

Flood

Increased flow of rivers and streams.

Run-off

Water that slides over the ground to reach the stream channels and rivers.

Frost

Layer of cristalliced ice formed when the

water vapor contained in the air settles on the

soil or other outdoor surfaces that are colder

than 0 degrees centigrade (0ºC).

Hydrolysis

The decomposition of organic compounds by the interaction of water.

Hydrophobic

Dew Point:

Vapor condensed by the coldness of the night in very small drops and after that they appear on the surface of the soil or on the plant.
