Background Noise

• A way to over come Background Noise would be to wear ear muffs or headphones, which are noise cancelling. An example of these would be the Sony MDRNC7B Noise Cancelling Headphones. (£31.08)

• These headphones are very good to block out the noise of other things happening around you.

• This then helps you to concentrate on the subject, and not to be distracted by Background Noise. You would wear these when speaking or simply working to allow proper concentration.

Distractions

A way to over come Distractions such as Mobiles going off or other people talking, would be to concentrate fully on the subject at hand, and try to ignore the other distractions, and simply carry on speaking, not losing your train of thought.

Something to get over this would be once more to get a Headset or something along the lines of the QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones (£251)which will allow you to concentrate on speaking/working and not get distracted.

(http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-background-noise.htm) This website is helpful as it explains a lot about overcoming Background Noise.

LACK OF CONCENTRATION

• A way to overcome the Lack of Concentration would be to add images or sounds to the presentation, to keep the audience immersed in the presentation, so that they would pay attention.

• Animations or pictures and color would do this, so a good presentation would have these things to over come this barrier.

• Flash would be a good idea to make the Animations as it is very good, graphical and easy to do so.

• Flash is relatively cheap at only £35 from the Adobe Flash Player website. It would be a good idea to get the most updated one to get all the extra’s.

Different languages

A way to overcome Different Languages is too find out in what country or part of a country that someone would be presenting the presentation, and adding subtitles of getting someone who speaks that language to help present across the information on the presentation.

A IT Mechanism to help with language would be RosettaStone (Price depends on the Level that you would want, But Level 1 is £150).

Different opinions A way to overcome this Barrier would be to

include the opinions of every side of the presentation, so that the Audience could see the whole sides of the presentation.

Such as if it was something about the Government, the info should be about both sides, not just one.

A good mechanical ay to do this would be a Forum on the subject, such as a Newspaper forum or something along those lines.

A way to overcome this Barrier would be to present the information about all sides of the

Culture. An example of this would be that if you were

presenting something about Religion, it would be a good idea to include information about

more than one religion, to make it fair.A mechanical mean to help with this would be a

online forum on the subject with all sides included upon the situation.

CULTURAL DIFFERENCES

Physical barriers

A way to over come Physical Barriers would be to have a certain amount of people in the room or place that the presentation is being held, so that the close proximity of other people, would be there so that the audience could concentrate fully on the presentation, not other people.

A mechanical mean to help with this would be to have a Excel page about where the people should be standing and how many can fit in the room itself and its capasity.

Body Language• A way to over come this Barrier would be to use only

positive body language and gestures, such as using your hand to show bits of information on the board or where it is being projected, whereas crossed arms would be negative body language, as it would show that you wouldn’t be comfortable, and would interrupt the concentration on the presentation.

• A mechanical mean to help with this would be to look up Coaches or video’s to help you with this such as http://www.pattiwood.net/.

• This website helps you to control your body language to keep it at a normal level to prestent properly.

Page 10: Ways of overcoming barriers to communication

A way to over come this Barrier would be to slowly explain each point of the presentation, so that the audience would be able to get the infomation properly, and effectively. Don't speak to fast over too many subjects, as the audience would get confused, and forget a lot of what you just said.

A mechanical way to help not to get Over loaded with Information would be to save a number of documents in a folder to so not to panic, and just to open the documents in sequence as you would need them.

Overload of information

Inconsistency

• A way to over come this barrier would be too look over the presentation beforehand, so that you can make logical connections to the work being presented, and not too jumbled up. For if the presentation is Inconsistent, it would cause confusing, or the audience would simply ignore what else you have to say.

• A mechanical way to over come Inconsistency would be to find a Guideline program so that you can input different titles of the different part of the presentation so that you would be able to stay on track. An example of this could be simply Microsoft Word etc.
