We all know that the playground is the most natural place for a young child while

growing up and being involved in activity is a natural instinct that comes from a

young age. It is not taught to us but genetically inherited and present in our young

ones but these activities are dying out. Even if kids have the time and the desire

to be active, parents may not feel comfortable letting them freely roam the

The government's physical activity guidelines recommend that children and teens

do an hour or more of moderate-intensity to vigorous activity a day. The „medicine

institute‟ advises that at least 30 minutes, or about half the daily physical activity,

be done during the school day. However, only 17% of students are meeting the

goal of target of 60 minutes a day.

Head teachers asked, “How can schools get children more active without

breaking their budgets? “They can‟t”. “The increase on teachers, lack of funds

and cut backs means parents need to step in and get their own children active”.
