BARNARD CASTLE EGGLESTON ABBEY & HALL
RABY CASTLE MIDDLETON ON TEESHIGH FORCE WATERFALLS
WHY DID WE CHOOSE BARNARD CASTLE?
Barnard Castle is a 40 minute drive from Bishop Monkton. This was chosen last
year. We are looking forward to spending 6 nights at Teesdale Caravan
Park near to Barnard Castle.
Saturday afternoon: We will be leaving Bishop Monkton to go up the A1 motorway to Barnard Castle.
This will take us 40 minutes to drive up to Teesdale Caravan Park. The caravan park is 5 miles away from
Barnard Castle.
Teesdale Caravan Park: This caravan park will be our base for 6 glorious nights in Barnard Castle. We
are checking in on 24th August 2014 and getting back for India Party on 30th August 2014.
Barnard Castle sits on a cliff overlooking the River tees. The castle was built in 11th Century and is now in the hands of English Heritage who look after it for visitors to look around the castle and see the Tees Gorge.
Eggleston Abbey is a traditional ruined abbey to the east of Barnard Castle. Today the abbey is
also in the hands of English Heritage to look around and see what there is at the Abbey.
Eggleston Hall is a majestic historical property nearby to Eggleston and the town of Middleton
on Tees and High Force Waterfalls.
Middleton in teeesdale
High Force Waterfalls are a mand made waterfalls overlooking the fast flowing River Tees. This will be great for us to walk and see the majestic waterfalls in Middleton on Tees.
The Bowes Musum is a historical and vibrant museum near Barnard Castle. The museum offers many different galleries and showstoppers such
as the Great Swan .
Raby Castle is a historical castle near Durham and Barnard Castle. It was built in the 16th
century and it is open for visitors to enjoy and seek the castle and gardens.
