(Username: sydenham. Password: pooleys)3. Select ‘interactive’.4. Select holiday maker – play.5. Select ‘how to play’ and read then instructions. 6. Select ‘clients’ and click on ‘Allens’ read about them and then

click on the ‘database’. Browse through the different holiday types 1-10 and look at the information on accommodation, descriptions etc. Decide which holiday is most suitable.

Assignment

Follow the instructions carefully so that you can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction in this unit.

1. Look carefully at the 4 case studies on the next slide and choose 3 to prepare your itineraries for.

2. Look at the itinerary requirements and make sure that you understand all of this.

3. Open and save a new document where you can record and keep all your ideas and research as you plan each of the 3 holiday itineraries.

4. Use the sources suggested in slide 10 and some of your own too to research all of the areas in the itinerary. P1

5. Prepare your 3 itineraries and present them in a way that is clear and suitable for the customer. P2, P3

Case Study 1 – The Johnson Family

The Johnson’s live in Brockley. Mr and Mrs Johnson have three children David

15, Keisha12 and Shamelle10. Their middle child Keisha has muscular dystrophy

and uses a wheelchair. They have not been on holiday for three years. They

really want to go away this year but they all want different things. Mr and Mrs

Johnson want to go somewhere that will not take more than six hours to get too.

Mrs Johnson hates flying. David is very sporty and likes to be active and

Shamelle likes to go horse riding and being with animals. They don’t have a car.

They want to go for one week and stay somewhere which will have wheel chair

access for Keisha. Keisha likes the idea of a swimming pool. They like to cook

their own meals so would prefer self catering. As they have not been on holiday

for a while they have saved two thousand pounds which they are happy to spend

Case Study 2: Clive Bell & Gill Kelly, Aston age3 and Bailey Age 6

Clive is a professional footballer and he and his family want to go on a relaxing holiday to Florida. They want to go at Easter when the children are on their school holidays. The children are desperate to go to Disneyland and Gill wants to go on a Disney cruise as well. They live in Birmingham and want to fly from there. They are planning to go for three weeks. They would like to arrange for a transfer in a limousine to their accommodation in Florida. Clive loves to play golf and wants to have information about any nearby clubs. They don’t mind what they pay as long as they are getting the very best on offer. Gill Kelly wants to know what the weather in Florida will be like at that time of year

Case Study 3: Sharon Grant and her 10 friends

Sharon is getting married soon to her fiancé Dane. She is getting married in June. She wants to have a really fantastic hen night with her friends. Dane is going to Amsterdam with his friends for his stag night. Sharon and her friends live near Brighton they want a whole weekend to do a number of things. They want to do some shopping and have a good night out. They also want to do something different like rally driving.

 Sharon does not have a lot of money to spend because she has saved most of it for her wedding, so she is on a tight budget. They want to spend the nights staying in a hotel if they can.

Case Study4: Frank Blair

  Frank Blair is fifty-six. He is still working. He has recently lost his partner who he was with for twenty years. He is feeling very lonely and his friends have suggested that he comes to visit them in Spain. They have an apartment in Marbella and they think it would be great for Frank to come for a couple of weeks to see their new apartment and explore the surrounding countryside.  

Frank is used to his partner organising their holiday arrangement so this will be the first time he has travelled on his own. Frank does not drive. He lives in Croydon and would like to get a flight from Gatwick airport to Malaga airport in Spain. He will need to catch the train to the airport. His friends will pick him up from Malaga and take him to their apartment.

Frank will need to exchange his money. He is not very confident about using Euro’s. He would also like some information about local sight seeing tours. He has a thousand pounds to spend and four hundred pounds to change into euros.
