• CLIMATE• The majority of the Dominican Republic

has a beautiful tropical weather all year round, with the average annual temperature around 25°C (77°F). Some call the Dominican Republic's climate, 'the endless summer', due to warm and sunny conditions that is everywhere in the country, all year round.

palms, mangroves, pines and cedars. Without forgetting the very many tropical fruits such as mangos, passion fruits, and plants such as tobacco, sugar cane and manioc... It consists of numerous types of reptiles (snakes, crocodiles), birds (hummingbirds, storks, pelicans) and all sorts of butterflies. Cabrotis Island, located in the centre of Lake Enriquillo and declared a national park, is the world's largest American crocodile reserve.

• The Dominican Republic was explored by Columbus on his first voyage in 1492. He named it La Española, and his son, Diego, was its first viceroy. The capital, Santo Domingo, founded in 1496, is the oldest European settlement in the Western Hemisphere.

Festival is during the last week of July or the first week of August every year at the Malecon.

in October every year. More than 100,000 turists .-Dominican Republic Jazz Festival:The festival is

staged at three scenic north coast locations: Cabarete, Sosua and Puerto Plata each October.

Sports– Baseball is by far the most popular sport in the

Dominican Republic.After the United States, the Dominican Republic has the second-highest number of Major League Baseball (MLB) players. Some of these players have been regarded among the best in the game. Historically, the Dominican Republic has been linked to MLB since Ozzie Virgil, Sr. became the first Dominican to play in the league. Among the outstanding MLB players born in the Dominican are: Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Vladimir Guerrero, Pedro Martinez, Albert Pujols, José Reyes, Hanley Ramirez, Miguel Tejada, Juan Marichal, Rafael Furcal and Sammy Sosa.
